Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 12/29/2015: The Year In Music!

The final Meltdown of 2015 on XTFM was a 7-and-a-half-hour marathon, boasting 106 of the songs that rocked our musical world in 2015. It was country, rock, metal, pop, hip-hop, Christian Contemporary, and even one awful song that took the country by storm in the form of a dance craze. Hoping you all enjoy this one. Feel free to leave your comments about the show, the playlist, or songs I should have added or even skipped.

It was an excellent year in music, in which we discovered many new bands, and old favorites returned with their first new material in several years. We even got to showccase a track from a new artist. Hey, I heard about him on Christmas, so it still qualifies for my best of 2015. Everyone needs to check out Dean Ray and watch for this guy to break out in a huge way in 2016. Thanks to several of HIS fans for joining the program and interacting last night.

Don’t forget to join me Saturdays at 1:00 PM East on The VIP Lounge. You can find us on the TuneIn Radio app by searching The VIP Lounge as well. We return to our normal time of 9:00 PM East next Tuesday, January 5, on XTFM.

Of course, if you enjoy what you read and hear, and if you’d like to make some Amazon purchases through me, it’s greatly appreciated.

Radio-Related Updates: URL Change at One Station, Year-In-Review For Another!

First, I want to thank all the listeners who listen, make requests, and otherwise interact with both of my radio shows.

Next, need to let you know of a small change with Wes’s Wild Weekend Party, heard on Saturdays at 1:00 PM US Eastern/18:00 UK. The VIP Lounge Radio has switched servers. Here’s the new website. The listen link has changed as well. For those using Winamp or TuneIn Radio, copy and paste http://theviploungeradio.com:8002/viplounge into your player of choice.

Next, note that on December 29, I’ll bbe doing my year-in-review special on XTFM. Instead of our usual 9:00 PM East start time that night, I’ll start two hours earlier at 7:00 PM East. I expect the show to run a bit long, so I’d rather start earlier as opposed to ending later. If you have something you’d like to hear on the year-end program, Let me know!

As always, for all regular Tuesday and Saturday shows, unless otherwise specified due to special programming, The request page is at your disposal!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 12/15/2015: Solo Edition on XTFM

This week’s Meltdown was a solo event. No co-host…Just me, the listeners, and the tunes. An excellent selection of music this go-round, including a cover comparison that pitted Willie Nelson up against Patsy Cline.

Don’t forget, on December 29, we’ll have our year-in-review show on XTFM. If there’s something you think we should play, use the “Contact” link at the top of the page and let me know. Next week’s co-host on XTFM is slated to be my friend Mai Laing, a frequent requester and contributor to the program.

Also, don’t forget about Wes’s Wild Weekend Party on The VIP Lounge Radio. Note the new website; listen links will need to be updated in your players of choice. For Winamp and TuneIn Radio, use http://theviploungeradio.com:8002/viplounge in the URL field. This show runs from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM Eastern, or 18:00-21:00 UK time. Hope to see you there. Radio Updates: Moved Request Page, Added A New Station, and New Show Name!

Friends! Looking forward to tomorrow as I begin a new radio adventure. Yes, I’m still on XTFM every Tuesday night starting at 9:00 PM East. However, I’ve added a new show and station to the arsenal. XTFM is still my top radio priority. Tomorrow, however, I launch Wes’s Wild Weekend Party on The VIP Lounge Radio. Click the Radio link, and then choose the web player or one of the other listening options. There is a Winamp option, and for those who prefer to use a mobile player such as TuneIn Radio, you can paste the Winamp URL into your Custom URL box on the “Profile” tab of TuneIn Radio’s iPhone app…I assume the same is true for Android.

The new show will be much like The Meltdown. Megan was the one to suggest a name change since I’m going to be doing the show on a different station from what people are used to. At first, I was hesitant, as I’ve used Wes’s Musical Meltdown now for over five years…But, after some reflection, I like the idea. New show, new station, new name.

Also note that the request page has moved. It can still be used for both shows. Find it here!

Also, the request-a-thon for Shelly will be rescheduled, probably for some time in the Spring or Summer. Unfortunately, we received no requests, so could not put on a proper request-a-thon. Having done these before, I’m thinking the Spring and Summer seem to be more fruitful for such things. We will work it out for a later date.

That’s it from here on the radio front. There may be a personal update coming soon.

And of course, Remember to Shop Amazon Through Me!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 12/08/2015: Artist Tributes, and Great Conversation with Co-Host Bob In The Black Boots

The December 8, 2015 Meltdown on XTFM will go down as one of my favorite shows in my internet radio career. Fellow XTFM DJ, host of The Cemetery at Midnight, Bob In The Black Boots, served as co-host. We went for just over five hours with lots of great music and conversation. Even with a few technical hiccups where the computer tried to substitute random tracks, the show was a success!

We had plenty of listener requests. Thanks to Gina, Bridgette, Megan, and Mai Laing for seeing to that. Please note, The Request Page has a New Address! We also had our cover comparison, pitting Dave Mason up against Billy Dean. In addition, as it was the anniversary of the deaths of a few musicians, birthday of another, and just a few days after the recent passing of a current artist, we had tributes to John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Dimebag Darrell, and the recently departed Scott Weiland.

We hope you enjoy listening to the show as much as we enjoyed doing it! As always, if you’re enjoying what you hear and want to help the page, Do your Amazon Shopping through Me.

The Country storm with Cowboy Alan, Wes Derby as Co-Host: 12/03/2015

Recently, I had the opportunity to co-host with my friend Cowboy Alan on his Thursday show, The Country Storm. Check it out here, and if you like what you hear, check Alan out at 10:00 PM East every Thursday on XTFM.

No playlist for this one, but listen anyway. It was a blast, and I’m sure we’ll co-host together in future. As always, if you enjoy the site and what you hear/read, Buy From Amazon Through Me.
