Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 09/17/2-017: Abbreviated Version

This week on the Meltdown, we had new music from Luke Bryan, Montgomery-Gentry, Foo Fighters, and a tribute to late Husker Du drummer Grant Hart. In addition, we played an artist many of us on the XTFM staff are going to see this weekend here in Columbus, Shooter Jennings. Cover Comparison featured AWOLNation up against Devildriver.

The show was cut short due to a medical issue. My apologies to the listeners for that. Thanks to all who tuned in, interacted in chat and on social media, and made requests. We know you have lots of choices when it comes to ways to be entertained. I thank those of you who tune in weekly, and those who help promote. Thanks also to the occasional listeners; we hope you hear something you like and will keep coming back for more.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 09/03/2017: Labor Day Weekend Edition

This week’s Meltdown was the typical mix of genres. In addition to our usual mix of rock, country, Christian, pop, and whatever else the listeners request, we paid tribute to the late Walter Becker with a six-pack of Steely Dan. Hey, it’s just about as good as a six-pack of Yuengling, right?

Also, we brought you a new band, Falling Into Red. Check them out on Facebook and Twitter. Their two singles were well-received by the DJ’s and listeners alike, and Amy from the band paid us a visit in the chat room. You will definitely be hearing more of this band from our other DJ’s, as well as in the automated rotation on XTFM.

In addition to bringing you some relatively new talent, we also had new material from Delbert McClinton, The Steel Woods, and newly discovered Stoney LaRue. We closed out the night with a brief commentary, thanks to something Gina said in the chat room, on the Building 429 song “Where I Belong”.

Cover Comparison saw Garth Brooks going up against All That Remains. The results may surprise you; they sure surprised me.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 08/20/2017: Music, talk about Movies, And More!

Tonight on the Meltdown, we had a good variety of music and topical discussion. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to reincorporate Skype, but this will happen once I buy a USB headset or other external sound card. You can always join us in the chat room found on the XTFM Website.

We took a listen to Ryan Follese and The Cadillac Three from their pre-country days. We also heard new music from Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Josh Abbott Band, and Lindsay Ell. There was a comedy set, some Christian rock/contemporary, and much more.

Mixed in with requests, new music, and the cover comparison, we also discussed some movies I saw this weekend, as well as people who think they are the thought/humor/social media police. That may inspire its own blog post later. For now, kick back, and enjoy this week’s edition of the Musical Meltdown.

In addition, we had lots of new music from Third Day, Kesha, Hinder, Lindsay Ell, and more.
