Wes’s Musical Meltdown For 07/09/2017 With Guest Hostess Rebekah Weiner: A Radio Star is Born!

For this week’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown on XTFM, We had an awesome guest host. My stepdaughter, Rebekah, made her hosting debut. Other than requests submitted by the listeners, she hand-picked all the music. I taught her and her mom the basics of the software, Megan helped her come up with some of her dialogue during the voice breaks…But this was indeed her show. When it was all said and done, she gave us just over four hours of great radio.

I want to thank my XTFM colleagues, and of course all the listeners, for their support. I know Rebekah had a great time, and I’m 100% sure this won’t be her last time onn-air.

Thanks also to Bekah’s friends, her grandma, and my daughter/her stepsister, Alexis, and our good friend and XTFM colleague Bob for all the requests.

Next week, I return to the airwaves at our normal time of 7:00 PM East. It’ll be an all-country show.

The following Sunday, on July 23, Megan Weiner, Bekah’s mom and my awesome fiancee, will make her hosting debut. Could this be the start of a new radio show? I guess you’ll have to stick around to find out.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 03/19/2017: Beauty and the Beast, Chuck Berry, and More!

Tonight’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown featured a great mix of music and conversation. As usual, we were all over the map musically. We also had a discussion of the new Beauty and the Beast Live Action movie with Megan and Rebekah. Originally, the discussion was to be done over Skype, but due to technical issues, I had them both in studio! We discussed the movie, as well as the controversy surrounding it.

In addition to our Beauty and the Beast discussion, we also paid tribute to the late Chuck Berry, who passed away yesterday at the age of 90. We featured six of Chuck’s originals along with three covers.

As always, catch us live at 7:00 PM East on Sunday nights on XTFM!

Updates From My World: The Good, The Bad, and Everything In Between

It’s been a while since I’ve updated here…Those who follow me on Twitter and Facebook probably know a lot of this, but…As I haven’t posted to the website in a while, figured I’d give my readers an update on what’s going on with me.

For starters, I’m no longer in Springfield. I’d been out of town, visiting my girlfriend, and came home to find my place had been burglarized. I don’t want to get into a lot of details as there is still an active police investigation, but, it was enough to get me out of town. Top it off with the landlord being completely unresponsive when notified about the break-in…Sorry, but a dirtbag like that doesn’t deserve another red cent from me. That said, I did recover my laptop minus all cords/cables, and my iPad minus the charging cable. Still missing a modem, stereo, the first XM unit I ever bought, and…No joke…A case of Yuengling, one of my favorite beers out of Pennsylvania. At least the thief had decent taste in beer, I suppose. Next time, buy your own. I did. LOL

I met some wonderful people in Springfield, but the burglary was sort of the last straw. After recent events, including housemates who free-loaded off me and still owe me nearly $1300 in back rent and other incidentals, very happy to leave that town behind. Heard the ex-housemates are in Georgia now. Good riddance. Hopefully, they’ve learned their lesson and won’t cheat the next person they rent from. But, I digress…Back to Springfield…I’ll still come back to visit friends, many of whom have become like family to me…But I don’t foresee myself living in such a ghetto place again.

In happier news, I’m now in Columbus, seeing an absolutely wonderful woman. We’re keeping things mostly quiet and spending as much time together to build the relationship as possible. We click on just about every level, which is an amazing feeling. I feel like I’ve finally found my equal…A relationship that can be a true 50-50, or as close to it as possible.

At work, i’ve moved up to a new position. I had been working as a reservations agent; I’m now a team member in our rewards department and loving it. The pay is better, and the work is a bit more challenging. And hey…My worst day here is still better than most days were dealing with callers at the IRS. LOL. In all seriousness, loving the company I currently work for, and can see myself staying with them for a long time.

As many know, I’ve been off-air with regards to the radio show since March due to someone inadvertently knocking over my hard drive. Working on rebuilding the music collection bit by bit, and I’m hoping to return to the airwaves on XTFM soon.

Awaiting word from work, but if all goes well, I should be travelling to Arizona to see family and friends just bbefore Christmas. Stay tuned to this spacce and social media to learn more.

For those who don’t know, I’ve recently become a Pampered Chef Independent Consultant. Unfortunately, due to life’s constant roller coaster, I haven’t been able to do much with the business yet…But now that things are settling down, I hope to do parties, virtual or in person…And would love for any of you reading this to check out the site and purchase anything you like. You can also like the Facebook Page!

Of course, I’m still your One-Stop Shop for Amazon Products!

Hey…Had to promote the business stuff. First, I do want to grow the Pampered Chef business…And hey, everyone pretty much shops Amazon…Why not help out a friend? And yes, I do reciprocate.

In closing, though there have been some bumps in the road since moving to Ohio, there’s been a lot of good. New friends, awesome lady, great job, and the opportunity to work full-time from home. Who knows…If I play my cards right, I may very well be able to take this job and keep it and move back to Arizona in time. Life is full of possibilities.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown on XTFM for 01/13/2016

This week’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown aired on Wednesday night instead of Tuesday. I swapped nights in order to catch the President’s final State of the Union address, in the slim hope that he’d say something useful and interesting for discussion fodder. Unfortunately, he did not. But, the show was a blast nonetheless.

In addition to listener requests and our usual mix, we also paid tribute to the late David Bowie with an extended set of material from throughout his career, right up to the CD he released this past Friday, just two days before his passing. Also, we caught up on some of the songs I failed to play on the 2015 year-end special.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 12/29/2015: The Year In Music!

The final Meltdown of 2015 on XTFM was a 7-and-a-half-hour marathon, boasting 106 of the songs that rocked our musical world in 2015. It was country, rock, metal, pop, hip-hop, Christian Contemporary, and even one awful song that took the country by storm in the form of a dance craze. Hoping you all enjoy this one. Feel free to leave your comments about the show, the playlist, or songs I should have added or even skipped.

It was an excellent year in music, in which we discovered many new bands, and old favorites returned with their first new material in several years. We even got to showccase a track from a new artist. Hey, I heard about him on Christmas, so it still qualifies for my best of 2015. Everyone needs to check out Dean Ray and watch for this guy to break out in a huge way in 2016. Thanks to several of HIS fans for joining the program and interacting last night.

Don’t forget to join me Saturdays at 1:00 PM East on The VIP Lounge. You can find us on the TuneIn Radio app by searching The VIP Lounge as well. We return to our normal time of 9:00 PM East next Tuesday, January 5, on XTFM.

Of course, if you enjoy what you read and hear, and if you’d like to make some Amazon purchases through me, it’s greatly appreciated.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown Presents A Request-A-Thon For Shelly’s Vision: Give, Request, and Listen

Wes’s Musical Meltdown and the rest of the XTFM staff are proud to host and present The Request-A-Thon For Shelly Gage. Join us for the live broadcast on Saturday, December 12, starting at 12:00 PM Eastern, and running for as long as the requests take to play through. Read on to find out how this works, and how you can start getting involved now.

Some of you may be asking yourselves “Who is Shelly, and why is The Meltdown raising money for her?” Those questions will be answered in this article. However, if you’d like to hear a bit more about/from Shelly herself, Check out our October 13 Broadcast.

The short version is this. At the age of 13, Shelly went blind due to Diabetic Retinopathy. Thanks to the wonders of modern medical science, Shelly has an opportunity to have some sight restored through a safe, but non-FDA-approved, procedure involving Adipose stem cells taken from her own body and re-implanted into/around her eyes. Her reason for doing this is simple. She was on her way to a promising figure skating career when she went blind. She’d like to be able to return to the ice and safely maneuver, even if full sight is not restored.

A breakdown of all costs involved is listed on her donation site along with everything you may want to know about the ccause and the procedure. No monies will be handled by myself or other station staff.

How It Works And What We’re Doing

To donate to Shelly’s Stem Cell procedure, Click here and make your donation. Any amount helps. For every dollar you donate, you then get to make a request which will be aired on the request-a-thon on December 12, 2015. Myself, Shelly, and several of our XTFM airstaff will be on-hand for the broadcast event. I will host the entire show along with Shelly, and many of our other DJ’s have committed to joining us throughout the day.

Once you’ve completed your donation, send your requests to requests@wesderby.net. Along with your requests, you may either send your receipt to show you’ve donated, or I’ll confirm your donation with Shelly to make sure it has been processed before adding to the requests for the show. Pretty simple! So, if you donate $1, you get one request. If you donate $10, you get 10 requests.

Please have requests submitted to me by 11:59 PM US Eastern Time on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Of course, donations will be taken until Shelly raises enough money for the procedure and other necessary expenses associated with it. Depending on the success of this request-a-thon, there may very well be a second one.

To listen, Visit the XTFM website and pick your media player of choice. Or, if you have the TuneIn Radio app on your mobile device, simply go to the Search tab and search for X Transmission FM. Then, on the 12Th of December, tune in, and listen for your name and your requests. You get the joy of helping someone out, and hearing songs you’ve picked. There are no limitations as to genre , adult language, or other content. if I have it or can locate it, it will get played.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via the form on the website, or leave them in the comments.
