Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 07/18/2017: Country Edition

This week’s Meltdown took place on Tuesday instead of Sunday due to some medical problems. Things are looking much better now, and I thank my audience for their understanding when life happens.

This week, the focus was on country music. Commercial, alternative, Americana, classic, new…Country in all its forms. The hardest part about a genre-specific show is that there’s so much great stuff. Naturally, some artists will be missed when trying to keep up that balance of giving the audience the radio country they’re used to, and throwing in some stuff that you maybe haven’t heard before. That said, the all-country shows may become a peeriodic thing on The Meltdown.

This Sunday on XTFM, Megan Weiner will be making her hosting debut in my slot. I want to thank the listeners for all of the positive feedback on Rebekah’s show from last week. Let’s show Megan the same love. Depending on how it goes, who knows what the future may hold for the mother-daughter duo of Megan and Rebekah. Will they bbe occasional fill-ins for the Meltdown? Will they team up for a show? Only they know the answers.

Enjoy this trip through the country music spectrum. I return to the air on July 30 with a regular, anything goes Meltdown.

Thanks to Rebekah for the suggestion for this week’s Cover Comparison.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown For 07/09/2017 With Guest Hostess Rebekah Weiner: A Radio Star is Born!

For this week’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown on XTFM, We had an awesome guest host. My stepdaughter, Rebekah, made her hosting debut. Other than requests submitted by the listeners, she hand-picked all the music. I taught her and her mom the basics of the software, Megan helped her come up with some of her dialogue during the voice breaks…But this was indeed her show. When it was all said and done, she gave us just over four hours of great radio.

I want to thank my XTFM colleagues, and of course all the listeners, for their support. I know Rebekah had a great time, and I’m 100% sure this won’t be her last time onn-air.

Thanks also to Bekah’s friends, her grandma, and my daughter/her stepsister, Alexis, and our good friend and XTFM colleague Bob for all the requests.

Next week, I return to the airwaves at our normal time of 7:00 PM East. It’ll be an all-country show.

The following Sunday, on July 23, Megan Weiner, Bekah’s mom and my awesome fiancee, will make her hosting debut. Could this be the start of a new radio show? I guess you’ll have to stick around to find out.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 03/05/2017: The Birthday Edition

Tonight’s edition of the Meltdown wound up being a themed edition. Originally, I was going to have Megan and Rebekah on to discuss the Lee Brice/Justin Moore concert we were going to attend on March 4. Unfortunately, Justin Moore was hit with an illness, and the show has been rescheduled. So, we will go to the concert on April 19. They will appear on the show on April 23.

For tonight’s musical entertainment, as my birthday is today and Megan’s is coming up on Thursday, I featured our years of birth. We played songs that were released and/or charted in 1978 and 1980. Enjoy this trip down memory lane!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown Test Broadcast 02/10/2017

Today’s show was supposed to be a test broadcast in advance of the return to the regular Sunday night spot at 7:00 PM East on XTFM, but wound up being a two-hour show. There was a technical hiccup which caused us to drop for a bit and have to come back, but in that, I believe we’ve found the issue. It looks to be a bad ethernet port or cable…So, doing this via WiFi. And…Hey…It worked.

Today’s show was a good mix of rock, country, and even a bit of pop. We had new music from Little Big Town, Zac Brown Band, Brett Young, Thomas Rhett, and more.

Join me at 7:00 PM East on Sunday night as we return to the regular Meltdown time slot. This Sunday will be the pre-Valentine’s Day edition, featuring mostly love songs of many varieties.

This week’s Wes’s Wild Party on The VIP Lounge Radio was quite a bit of fun. A good mix of requests and my own picks. We played a new artist my listeners are quite fond of, as well as paid a brief musical tribute to a departed heavy metal legend. We even played some rap, which everyone knows is a bit unusual for me.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 12/29/2015: The Year In Music!

The final Meltdown of 2015 on XTFM was a 7-and-a-half-hour marathon, boasting 106 of the songs that rocked our musical world in 2015. It was country, rock, metal, pop, hip-hop, Christian Contemporary, and even one awful song that took the country by storm in the form of a dance craze. Hoping you all enjoy this one. Feel free to leave your comments about the show, the playlist, or songs I should have added or even skipped.

It was an excellent year in music, in which we discovered many new bands, and old favorites returned with their first new material in several years. We even got to showccase a track from a new artist. Hey, I heard about him on Christmas, so it still qualifies for my best of 2015. Everyone needs to check out Dean Ray and watch for this guy to break out in a huge way in 2016. Thanks to several of HIS fans for joining the program and interacting last night.

Don’t forget to join me Saturdays at 1:00 PM East on The VIP Lounge. You can find us on the TuneIn Radio app by searching The VIP Lounge as well. We return to our normal time of 9:00 PM East next Tuesday, January 5, on XTFM.

Of course, if you enjoy what you read and hear, and if you’d like to make some Amazon purchases through me, it’s greatly appreciated.

Wes’s Wild Weekend Party for 12/12/2015: The VIP Lounge Radio Debut!

Today marked the debut of Wes’s Wild Weekend Party on The VIP Lounge Radio. I had a blast playing music, taking requests, and trying something a little different. Both shows are fun and interesting for me to do, and I hope both are enjoyable to you, the listeners.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 11/03/2015: Show Recap and Download

The November 3, 2015 show was a fun one. Just over three hours; lots of music, and interesting topics. Unfortunately, technology decided to be uncooperative and eat the playlist. However, I’m confident you’ll enjoy the mix of classic country, Christian Contemporary, rock, and even some 80’s Alternative on this week’s show.

Megan served again as co-host, and discussed her involvement with a company called Jamberry. Want to know more? Listen to the show, then get in touch.

We also discussed the failure of Issue 3, Marijuana Legalization, here in OOhio, where the show is currently based. I discussed ways they could possibly have more success on next year’s ballot.

As always, if you enjoy what you hear, Make an Amazon Purchase to Help Me Out. It’s greatly appreciated.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 10/20/2015: Recap, Playlist, and Download

The October 20 edition of The Meltdown on XTFM saw the return of Holly as co-host as Megan was ill. We had more requests than we’ve had in a long time, and ran for just over four hours. Thanks to listeners new and veteran for all the help last night. We also had two Cover Comparisons…One picked by me, one picked by Faith from Canada.

As always, if you like what you hear and feel so inclined, Buy something from Amazon and Help Me Maintain the Page.
