Also, listen for Megan’s big reveal regarding a life decision she’s made. Thanks to all who listened and made requests. We had the one-hit wonder feature, and lots of other good stuff on this week’s show. Enjoy!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 08/06/2017: All Over The Musical Spectrum

Tonight on the Meltdown we were truly all over the place. The Cover Comparison put Joe Nichols up against Sir Mix A Lot. We had lots of requests, and good conversation. Toward the end, the disclaimer was definitely necessary. Parts of the show are not suitable for the kids or the easily offended. We had a mix of everything from Sinatra to Steel Panther, and everything in between. We also had new music from Theory of A Deadman, BBrett Eldredge, and more!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 07/30/2017: Music, Conversation, and Good Times

This week on the Meltdown, we brought you new music from Parmalee, Byzantine, Last Bullet, and much more. Cover Comparison pitted Willie Nelson up against Chris Stapleton, and the results were a little surprising. We also paid musical tribute to the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and singer/songwriter Michael Johnson.

We had a great conversation on-air between myself and Megan, who will be starting her XTFM Show with Rebekah on Tuesday at 7:00 PM East. We discussed this article about a restaurant in New York. Some people agree with their policy, many do not. The discussion in the chat room on the topic was great as well, and we read some of the comments on-air. On a sidenote, I did post the article to my Facebook, and noticed something in the comments section. Those of us with Conservative and libertarian viewpoints tended to be opposed to the policy on several grounds. Those who tend to think the restaurant is doing the right thing tended to be more left-leaning, which helps confirm the beliefs of myself and many others about our left-leaning people in the US. More on that on a future show or blog post, I’m sure.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 07/23/2017: Megan Weiner Makes Her Hosting Debut

Tonight on the Meltdown, Megan Weiner made her hosting debut. She’s been a guest on my show a few times, but this week, we decided to turn the reins over to her and let her try her hand at radio. It was excellent. other than a few technical glitches that happen to even the most seasoned broadcasters, the show was a huge success.

Join Megan and Rebekah as they team up starting Tuesday August 1 at 7:00 PM East for their New weekly XTFM show! The show is still in need of a name, but that will come in time.

Also, I highly recommend checking out Megan’s website and Blog About Life with Hashimoto’s.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 07/18/2017: Country Edition

This week’s Meltdown took place on Tuesday instead of Sunday due to some medical problems. Things are looking much better now, and I thank my audience for their understanding when life happens.

This week, the focus was on country music. Commercial, alternative, Americana, classic, new…Country in all its forms. The hardest part about a genre-specific show is that there’s so much great stuff. Naturally, some artists will be missed when trying to keep up that balance of giving the audience the radio country they’re used to, and throwing in some stuff that you maybe haven’t heard before. That said, the all-country shows may become a peeriodic thing on The Meltdown.

This Sunday on XTFM, Megan Weiner will be making her hosting debut in my slot. I want to thank the listeners for all of the positive feedback on Rebekah’s show from last week. Let’s show Megan the same love. Depending on how it goes, who knows what the future may hold for the mother-daughter duo of Megan and Rebekah. Will they bbe occasional fill-ins for the Meltdown? Will they team up for a show? Only they know the answers.

Enjoy this trip through the country music spectrum. I return to the air on July 30 with a regular, anything goes Meltdown.

Thanks to Rebekah for the suggestion for this week’s Cover Comparison.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown For 07/09/2017 With Guest Hostess Rebekah Weiner: A Radio Star is Born!

For this week’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown on XTFM, We had an awesome guest host. My stepdaughter, Rebekah, made her hosting debut. Other than requests submitted by the listeners, she hand-picked all the music. I taught her and her mom the basics of the software, Megan helped her come up with some of her dialogue during the voice breaks…But this was indeed her show. When it was all said and done, she gave us just over four hours of great radio.

I want to thank my XTFM colleagues, and of course all the listeners, for their support. I know Rebekah had a great time, and I’m 100% sure this won’t be her last time onn-air.

Thanks also to Bekah’s friends, her grandma, and my daughter/her stepsister, Alexis, and our good friend and XTFM colleague Bob for all the requests.

Next week, I return to the airwaves at our normal time of 7:00 PM East. It’ll be an all-country show.

The following Sunday, on July 23, Megan Weiner, Bekah’s mom and my awesome fiancee, will make her hosting debut. Could this be the start of a new radio show? I guess you’ll have to stick around to find out.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 06/25/2017

This week’s edition of The Meltdown was full of good music, a cover comparison, and plenty of requests. No hot-button issues discussed this week, other than making fun of the upstairs neighbor for dropping his “cigar” on our balcony furniture.

In addition to old favorites and requests, we had new music from Nicckelback, The Nixons, Luke Combs, Jon Pardi, Lady Antebellum, Kane Brown, and Trent Tomlinson.

Cover Comparison found Alice Cooper’s Is It My Body going up against the Sonic Youth cover. Tune in to find out who won.

As always, join us Sunday nights at 7:00 PM East to hear the show live on XTFM, or find us on TuneInRadio or the OoTunes app.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 06/11/2017: Wonder Woman, Karaoke at Zuey’s, and More!

Tonight’s Meltdown on XTFM Was lots of fun. We had a great mix of music, the Cover Comparison, and a few in-studio guests. We had Bekah and Megan on to talk about the new Wonder Woman movie, in theaters now. And Guy from downstairs came up to check out the studios while his dad, Gary, hung out in our studio audience on the balcony. Yes, we’re moving up in the world.

There’s also a brief discussion about our Friday night at Zuey’s, and a set paying tribute to the songs we did for Karaoke.

If YOU want to be part of the studio audience, just…Be friends and/or neighbors with me, my girl, or my stepdaughter. But seriously, it was lots of fun. Some technical hiccups…Like the microphone not activating after Cover Comparison…And some background noise from the party happening outside the studio. And, have no fear. The DJ got food and drink after the show. Enjoy! We’ll be back in two weeks. Taking next week off for Fathers’ Day.
