Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 06/25/2017

This week’s edition of The Meltdown was full of good music, a cover comparison, and plenty of requests. No hot-button issues discussed this week, other than making fun of the upstairs neighbor for dropping his “cigar” on our balcony furniture.

In addition to old favorites and requests, we had new music from Nicckelback, The Nixons, Luke Combs, Jon Pardi, Lady Antebellum, Kane Brown, and Trent Tomlinson.

Cover Comparison found Alice Cooper’s Is It My Body going up against the Sonic Youth cover. Tune in to find out who won.

As always, join us Sunday nights at 7:00 PM East to hear the show live on XTFM, or find us on TuneInRadio or the OoTunes app.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 06/11/2017: Wonder Woman, Karaoke at Zuey’s, and More!

Tonight’s Meltdown on XTFM Was lots of fun. We had a great mix of music, the Cover Comparison, and a few in-studio guests. We had Bekah and Megan on to talk about the new Wonder Woman movie, in theaters now. And Guy from downstairs came up to check out the studios while his dad, Gary, hung out in our studio audience on the balcony. Yes, we’re moving up in the world.

There’s also a brief discussion about our Friday night at Zuey’s, and a set paying tribute to the songs we did for Karaoke.

If YOU want to be part of the studio audience, just…Be friends and/or neighbors with me, my girl, or my stepdaughter. But seriously, it was lots of fun. Some technical hiccups…Like the microphone not activating after Cover Comparison…And some background noise from the party happening outside the studio. And, have no fear. The DJ got food and drink after the show. Enjoy! We’ll be back in two weeks. Taking next week off for Fathers’ Day.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 05/21/2017: Chris Cornell Tribute and much More

This week’s Meltdown was mostly about the passing of Chris Cornell earlier in the week. We had the cover comparison, as well as requests, and a lot of new country, but the bulk of the program was spent playing the music of Chrris Cornell’s various projects. Honestly, we could’ve gone for several more hours; the man left us a great body of work.

Enjoy, and join us again next week on XTFM.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 04/23/2017

This week’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown definitely had some NSFW moments and lived up to the disclaimer we play at the beginning of each show. Don’t worry; most of the show is family friendly…Just that last 45 minutes or so where we went a little off-color. Good stuff though, I promise.

In addition to the usual mix of music, our cover comparison for the week featured Tim McGraw up against Aaron Lewis, performing a Chris Stapleton song. In addition, we played the first two songs to be released from Chris’s upcoming release, due out May 5. During the voting for Cover Comparison, my fiancee, Megan, made an unplanned guest appearance. I hadn’t realized she was in the room, and as I thought her comments to me on the two versions of the track were excellent, I put her on the spot and had her share them on-air. We also had a brief set in rememberance of the late J. Geils.

Due to a family get-away, there will bbe no show next Sunday night as I’m not sure I’ll have the energy/motivation to put it together once we’re back home. We’ll see you again on May 7, at 7:00 PM East on XTFM or on the podcast!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for April 9, 2017: Requests, New Country, and 90’s Alternative

On this week’s edition of the Meltdown, it got interesting. To start out, I was getting over a cold, so…Didn’t sound my best. On top of it, it was the start of the full moon, which often seems to affect people’s moods. I may have gotten a little irritated at a couple situations, and let that come through during a voice break. For that, I apologize in advance. Just know that issues were resolved, and all is well in the XTFM family.

Once we got past all that, the show was a fun one. Lots of new country, a flashback to the 90’s for some lost alternative tracks, a brief tribute to the late Layne Staley, and lots of requests. Cover Comparison this week put Material Issue up against Stereo Fuse.

There will be no show, and therefore, no podcast next Sunday due to the Easter holiday. I’m taking the day off as I don’t know when we’ll return from whatever Easter events we may be attending. I return to XTFM on April 23 at 7:00 PM East. Of course, sometime before that, the request page will be up so you, the faithful listeners, can get your requests in early and often!

As a warning, this episode does have quite a bit of adult content/language.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 04/02/2017: Replay of Alexis’s Show from 07/24/2014

What’s the old saying, “Better late than Never.”? And so it goes with this week’s edition of The Meltdown.

Due to another commitment, the show was not live this past week. We replayed my daughter Alexis’s show from July 24, 2014 in honor of this past Sunday being her 12Th birthday. Happy birthday, Kiddo…

Sorry; no paylist in front of me this time. It’s one of the many files lost in the hard drive crash of 2016. But, enjoy this mix of pop, rock, country…And the musings of a then 9-year-old.

I return to the airwaves this Sunday night at 7:00 PM East provided I’ve sufficiently kicked this cold from my system. Join me on XTFM, or find X Transmission FM on The TuneIn Radio or OoTunes apps for your mobile device of choice!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 03/26/2017 with Guest Megan Weiner

Tonight’s show, as always, was lots of fun and, I hope, entertaining for the listeners.

We paid tribute to late Boston drummer Sib Hashian. We brought you the new Tim and Faith single. We played requests…And, we went back to the year 2005. I brought Megan on again as both of our daughters have birthday’s coming up in April. The discussion and music were both lots of fun.

There will not be a live show next week; if all goes as planned, XTFM will re-broadcast a show my daughter did for us from July 24, 2014. Next Sunday is her birthday, and I have a commitment that will not allow me to be back in time for the show…So, to celebrate, we’ll replay the Alexis Edition of the Meltdown, and it will go up as next week’s podcast.

Wes’s Musical Meltdown for 03/19/2017: Beauty and the Beast, Chuck Berry, and More!

Tonight’s edition of Wes’s Musical Meltdown featured a great mix of music and conversation. As usual, we were all over the map musically. We also had a discussion of the new Beauty and the Beast Live Action movie with Megan and Rebekah. Originally, the discussion was to be done over Skype, but due to technical issues, I had them both in studio! We discussed the movie, as well as the controversy surrounding it.

In addition to our Beauty and the Beast discussion, we also paid tribute to the late Chuck Berry, who passed away yesterday at the age of 90. We featured six of Chuck’s originals along with three covers.

As always, catch us live at 7:00 PM East on Sunday nights on XTFM!
